Systems Coordinator – Mechanical & Fluid Systems (Cape Town)

About the role

The Systems Coordinator will lead the Mechanical and Systems department for yacht builds, ensuring efficient installation and integration of propulsion, plumbing, HVAC, and hydraulic equipment. This senior role focuses on streamlining workflows and delivering high‑precision execution of complex mechanical designs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate departmental workflows and resource allocation across mechanical and fluid systems.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of engine rooms, main engines, drive trains, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, bilge and hydraulic systems.
• Align installation schedules to optimise efficiency and meet departmental milestones.
• Review and interpret system diagrams, mechanical schematics and technical drawings.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and classification societies to ensure compliance with design specifications and RINA/Lloyd’s requirements.
• Lead testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of onboard systems to meet quality and classification standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience in marine, yacht building or shipbuilding.
• Proven experience managing technical teams or mechanical installation departments.
• Formal technical or engineering qualification related to marine mechanical systems.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills to bridge design and installation.
