System Engineer

About the role

Lexdan Select is assisting an IT consultancy in Cape Town to find a Systems Engineer who will provide technical support to managed‑service clients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to managed service clients through remote assistance and on‑site visits, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
• Install, configure, maintain and support client infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, Microsoft cloud services and applications.
• Monitor and maintain system performance, security, backups, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, service records, knowledge‑base articles and standard operating procedures.
• Identify opportunities for infrastructure improvement through standardisation, automation, proactive maintenance and best‑practice adoption.
• Build strong client relationships through professional communication, responsiveness and high‑quality service delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
• Relevant IT qualification and industry certifications, including Microsoft 365 certifications.
• Strong technical expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server and Windows Desktop environments.
• Experience with networking, virtualization, cybersecurity technologies and modern MSP toolsets (RMM and PSA platforms).
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, problem‑solving and customer‑service skills.
• Strong communication, time‑management, accountability and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work independently and take initiative.
