System Administrator

About the role

HOSTAFRICA is looking for a skilled System Administrator to join its WebOPS department. You will be responsible for optimizing, maintaining, and securing the shared hosting infrastructure while ensuring high performance and reliability. The role involves hands‑on work with Linux systems, automation, and collaboration across teams.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize and maintain shared hosting infrastructure for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Research, implement, and manage AI‑driven automation solutions to streamline operational tasks.
• Provide technical escalation support to the WebOPS department when required.
• Deploy, configure, and manage shared virtual machines (VMs).
• Deploy and manage dedicated servers for clients and internal projects.
• Ensure smooth operation, uptime, and monitoring of shared infrastructure services.
• Assist with incident response and escalation handling.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Linux system administration within the web hosting industry.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑department collaboration.
• Strong time‑management and prioritisation abilities.
• Proactive problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.

• Linux system administration (Debian‑based)
• DirectAdmin and cPanel control panels
• DNS, Exim, and MySQL management
• Bash scripting for automation and diagnostics
• Proxmox and general virtualization technologies
• Experience or interest in AI‑driven automation frameworks
