Supervisor Engineering – Rigging

About the role

South Deep is seeking a Supervisor Engineering – Rigging to lead the rigging team at its gold mine. The role ensures all rigging activities comply with safety standards, rigging plans and operational procedures, supporting underground production.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee rigging operations including replacement of skips, cages, ropes and preparation of equipment for underground use.
• Manage and maintain lifting equipment, tackles, 3 BMR winders and a single‑drum winder in a 3000 m shaft.
• Conduct inspections in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act and company standards.
• Lead health and safety meetings, ensure zero‑harm culture and legal compliance as a 2.9.2 appointee.
• Plan, schedule and deliver rigging work within tight deadlines.

Required profile

• Proven safety leadership and track record in rigging or mining environments.
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative and communication abilities.
• Independent, proactive thinker capable of meeting strict schedules.
• Good knowledge of mining legislation related to lifting equipment, winders and related regulations.
• Technical problem‑solving competence.
