Superintendent: Precinct Operations Areas

About the role

The Superintendent for Precinct Operations Areas will lead traffic law enforcement, crime prevention and by‑law compliance within the EMPD jurisdiction. This senior policing role supports public safety initiatives, crowd management and community outreach in accordance with Batho Pele principles.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce traffic law to minimise accidents and promote road safety within the CoE in line with Batho Pele principles.
• Execute crime prevention activities to create a safer living environment.
• Carry out By‑Law enforcement to ensure compliance with Council regulations.
• Manage police duties related to crowd control, VIP protection and event security.
• Lead road safety and crime awareness campaigns.
• Attend to domestic violence complaints in accordance with the Domestic Violence Act.
• Promote effective use of animals in policing duties.
• Perform administrative functions that uphold EMPD’s public image and adhere to Batho Pele principles.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence (code B or higher).
• No criminal record or illicit activity.
• Metro Police qualification accredited by RTMC & SAPS (Traffic Officer Diploma & Law Enforcement Skills Certificate).
• Registered as a Traffic Officer.
• Relevant Diploma or Higher Certificate at NQF Level 5.
• Minimum three years’ experience as Constable/Inspector or equivalent role.
