SQL Developer – Data Reporting Solutions

About the role

We are seeking a skilled SQL Developer to design, implement, and support data‑driven reporting solutions for a range of clients. Based in South Africa, you will work closely with both technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust SQL‑based implementations.

Key responsibilities

• Engage directly with clients and managers to gather reporting needs and business requirements.
• Translate business requirements into effective SQL solutions, including views, stored procedures, functions and tables.
• Connect remotely to client environments to install, configure, maintain and support reporting software.
• Investigate client systems to identify relevant data sources across multiple platforms.
• Extract, analyse and interpret data from databases and business applications.
• Review and optimise existing database structures, relationships and data flows.
• Apply database fixes, updates and performance improvements in Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Troubleshoot database, connectivity and networking issues, collaborating with client IT teams as needed.
• Deliver user training and post‑implementation support, taking ownership from setup through completion.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proven ability to solve technical problems and communicate clearly with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Hands‑on experience delivering database solutions and supporting software implementations.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL querying (joins, aggregations, subqueries, troubleshooting).
• Creation and management of SQL objects: views, stored procedures, functions, tables.
• Performance tuning and optimisation of SQL Server databases.
• Experience with Windows Server environments and remote connectivity.
• Database maintenance tasks such as applying fixes and updates.
