Sports Intern

About the role

Wembley College, an English-medium, co-educational independent school founded in 1997 and situated in Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a motivated and professional Sports Intern. The intern supports the delivery and growth of the College's sports programme by assisting with coaching, event coordination, scholar supervision and sports administration, while taking part in the wider life of the school.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with coaching and development of junior sports teams, support training sessions, matches and sporting activities, and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and participation among scholars.
• Provide assistance to coaches and the Director of Sport as required.
• Attend and assist at assigned sporting fixtures, tournaments, festivals and events, and help organise, set up and run them.
• Assist with scholar supervision during home and away fixtures and ensure scholars' safe and professional conduct at all times.
• Help with fixture schedules, team lists, attendance registers, results and sports communications, and maintain sports equipment and facilities.
• Provide administrative support to the Sports Department and act as an active, visible member of the school community, taking part in school functions, open days, camps and co-curricular activities.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification or current studies in Sport Science, Education, Human Movement Science, Coaching or a related field.
• Passion for sport and working with young people.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Required skills

• Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Coaching experience, first aid certification and a valid driver's licence are advantageous.
