Specialist Tax – Secunda Operations & Small Entities

About the role
The Specialist Tax role supports Sasol's Secunda Operations and the compliance of small business entities such as trusts, clubs and non‑profit organisations. You will work closely with the Senior Manager Tax, Finance and IT teams to ensure statutory tax obligations are met and to add value through process improvement and automation.
Key responsibilities
- Manage direct tax matters including statutory compliance, tax return preparation, accounting for taxes and payments.
- Compile normal and deferred tax calculations using OneSource for half‑year and year‑end reporting.
- Prepare income tax returns with supporting schedules and respond to revenue authority queries.
- Provide corporate tax advice to business units, identify non‑compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
- Support indirect tax functions – advise on VAT, customs and excise duties, ensure accurate remittance and maximise opportunities.
- Conduct VAT reviews, identify potential non‑compliance and recommend improvements.
- Assist in the consolidation of divisions for tax purposes and support tax technology tool maintenance and basic automation.
Required profile
- Proven experience in corporate direct and indirect tax compliance.
- Ability to consult business units on tax planning and compliance matters.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data preparation and process support.
- Experience working collaboratively with finance, tax and IT teams.
