Specialist Software Engineer

About the role

The Specialist Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain in‑house applications that support business processes. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Applications and Maintenance Support, the role focuses on delivering technical solutions that align with organisational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Design technical solutions using knowledge of application architecture, databases and development techniques.
• Program applications according to specifications and ensure seamless integration with business processes.
• Test functionality in development environments and demonstrate new features to users.
• Resolve application issues and adapt functionality to evolving business requirements.
• Follow ICT department change‑management procedures for all modifications.
• Develop interfaces and link components with workflow systems.
• Train end‑users and provide ongoing support for application‑related problems.
• Stay current with industry developments, programming techniques and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and problem‑analysis abilities.
• Good judgement, adherence to procedures and teamwork orientation.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in time‑critical situations.
• Capability to evaluate, recommend and implement third‑party solutions.
