Specialist Services Engineer (T2) – IT Managed Services

About the role

The Specialist Services Engineer (T2) delivers planned technical implementations, project tasks, onsite work and escalated support for managed client environments within an IT managed‑services context. The role sits in a Professional Services team and requires a strong generalist background across Microsoft and infrastructure technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical project work aligned to approved scopes, ensuring secure and timely implementation.
• Execute deployments, migrations, endpoint preparation, Microsoft 365 configuration, backup enablement and security tool deployment.
• Maintain accurate project and ticket updates, capture time entries and provide regular status reports.
• Identify and escalate project blockers, technical risks and out‑of‑scope requests.
• Support senior engineers and client stakeholders with technical information for escalations.
• Maintain documentation, diagrams, licensing notes and configuration records in knowledge systems.
• Assist with client onboarding, change management, release and deployment processes within an ITIL/ITSM framework.

Required profile

• Matric or NQF equivalent; A+ and N+ or equivalent foundational IT qualifications.
• Microsoft certification or equivalent practical experience in Microsoft 365, Azure fundamentals and endpoint/server technologies.
• 5+ years practical IT experience, preferably in a managed‑services provider environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Entra ID/Azure AD, backup solutions and security tooling.
• Familiarity with ITIL and COBIT5 frameworks (formal certification advantageous).
