Sourcing Specialist – Africa & Middle East

About the role

The Barrick Africa & Middle East team is looking for a Sourcing Specialist to manage procurement activities across the region. You will ensure compliance with corporate policies while delivering cost‑effective solutions for both local and international markets.

Key responsibilities

• Consolidate and evaluate supplier offers from global and local markets, recommending the best options to the site Supply Chain team.
• Obtain a minimum of three competitive quotations and complete purchase order execution within 72 hours.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships, monitor performance, and escalate issues as needed.
• Collaborate with site supply chain teams, local partners, China hub colleagues, and technical staff to source correct specifications.
• Lead weekly critical‑list meetings, providing updates on internationally sourced items and resolving technical queries.
• Drive cost‑saving initiatives through FPA implementation and track savings against spend.
• Track open purchase orders, follow up on delivery commitments, and report delays to the Sourcing Manager.
• Apply standardized catalogues to reduce SKU proliferation and ensure accurate SAP coding of orders.
• Resolve invoice and goods‑receipt discrepancies with Finance and receiving teams.
• Maintain tender documentation for audit compliance and support spend reporting.

Required profile

• Degree or National Diploma in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Commerce or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain operations.
• Strong commercial awareness, negotiation ability and cost‑saving mindset.
• Proven capability to manage high‑volume transactions accurately under pressure.
• Knowledge of procurement governance, compliance controls and audit documentation.

Required skills

• SAP Ariba or similar ERP procurement module.
• SAP order coding and material master management.
