Solutions Architect

About the role

The Solutions Architect will lead the design and delivery of end‑to‑end technical solutions for Nedbank’s Generic Lending Platform. This role combines visionary architecture with hands‑on technical leadership to ensure scalable, secure, and resilient services across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and resilient solutions using Java 17, Spring Boot, microservices, and metadata‑driven architecture.
• Architect, optimise, and support containerised workloads on OpenShift, including CI/CD pipelines, observability, and performance tuning.
• Define and govern REST APIs, SOAP services, Kafka/event‑driven components, and data structures in DB2/PostgreSQL.
• Present solutions to governance forums and obtain acceptance from domain and technology specialists.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to secure buy‑in, decompose solutions, and plan sequencing and resourcing.
• Mentor and coach software engineering practitioners and contribute to the engineering lead chapter.
• Continuously improve technical assets to ensure long‑term sustainability and alignment with business strategy.

Required profile

• Advanced Diploma or first‑degree (BSc Computer Science, BCom Information Systems) or equivalent.
• Proven experience designing complex, distributed systems in a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to balance constraints, risks, and trade‑offs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
