Solar Electrical Technician – Pretoria (Moot Area)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established commercial and industrial renewable‑energy company, is seeking a hands‑on Solar Electrical Technician to join their growing team in the Moot area of Pretoria. The role involves installing, commissioning, maintaining and fault‑finding on commercial solar PV systems and related electrical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Install solar PV modules, inverters, battery storage systems and associated electrical equipment, routing and terminating cabling to project specifications.
• Perform pre‑commissioning inspections, commission and configure inverters, conduct system start‑up, testing and performance verification.
• Diagnose and repair faults on PV systems, carry out preventative and corrective maintenance, and replace faulty components.
• Identify and rectify installation defects, support final inspections and handovers, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections, assist engineers with technical evaluations, and collaborate with site supervisors and project managers to keep projects on schedule.
• Complete installation, commissioning and maintenance reports, record test results and corrective actions, and assist with handover documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Solar Electrical Technician, PV Technician or qualified electrician.
• Valid Red Seal Trade Certificate (mandatory) and a current driver’s licence; a Wireman’s Licence is advantageous.
• Proven experience with solar PV installations, inverter commissioning and, preferably, battery storage systems.
• Willingness to travel to project sites across the Pretoria region.
