Software Engineer – C++ Development

About the role

Our client is looking for a talented Software Engineer with strong C++ development experience to join an established Agile team. You will work on specialised engineering software used by civil engineering professionals across South Africa and internationally, delivering high‑quality solutions that have long‑term impact.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance features using C++ within Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design through testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate in a SCRUM environment to deliver reliable, high‑performance software.
• Research and implement efficient solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Produce clear technical documentation and support defect resolution with the support team.
• Stay up‑to‑date with best practices and emerging technologies relevant to civil‑engineering software.

Required profile

• BSc in Computer Science, BEng with strong mathematics focus, or a related qualification.
• 3–6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile, collaborative environment.
• Background or qualification in civil engineering is advantageous.

Required skills

• C++ programming.
• Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC).
