Software Developer – Manufacturing & SCADA

About the role

Our client, a leading manufacturing company in Port Elizabeth, is seeking a Software Developer to support and enhance their SCADA and forklift monitoring systems. The role combines software development, database reporting, and on‑site operational support.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and troubleshoot the SCADA system, resolving issues promptly.
• Develop, maintain, test, and validate operational reports.
• Write, maintain and optimise SQL queries and database reports.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Facilitate OEE, SCADA and forklift meetings, ensuring effective planning and follow‑up.
• Support production floor activities: system start‑up, user logins, testing and forklift PIN management.
• Oversee battery charging bays and forklift safety compliance.
• Maintain the Forklift Monitoring System and monitor supplier performance.
• Develop and update SOPs for SCADA and forklift operations.
• Conduct method, time and workflow studies to improve forklift utilisation.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Industrial Engineering (essential); IT qualification advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years experience in production, manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Project management experience and understanding of ISO 9001/IATF quality systems.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, good attendance record.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
