Software Developer II

About the role

The Software Developer II will translate detailed designs into high-quality code, configure solutions and mentor junior developers. Working within Nedbank’s IT division, you will contribute to large, complex systems that support the bank’s digital services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver robust, fault-tolerant software components.
• Produce clean, maintainable code following organisational standards.
• Estimate effort, troubleshoot issues and guide team members.
• Create unit and system test cases, execute testing and ensure observability.
• Manage source-control artefacts and deployment packages.
• Collaborate with designers, product owners and engineering leads to refine solutions.
• Maintain and update the asset knowledge base.
• Mentor multiple software developers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional programming experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and support team objectives.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to mentor peers.

Required skills

• Programming (any language) with solid understanding of data structures.
• Experience with application systems and Agile development methodologies.
• Knowledge of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Unit testing and system testing.
• Source-control management and deployment processes.
