Soft Collections Consultant

About the role

A financial services company is looking for a Soft Collections Consultant to manage a caseload of funded clients, monitor accounts for red flags, follow up on overdue amounts and resolve repayment‑related queries and complaints. This frontline, client‑facing role blends investigative thinking with clear, confident communication.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor client activity and identify red‑flags in payment behaviour.
• Investigate causes of payment delays or turnover fluctuations and report findings.
• Contact customers with overdue accounts, negotiate payment plans and collect outstanding amounts.
• Use investigative tools to locate and re‑establish contact with uncontactable customers.
• Maintain accurate records of client contact, collection attempts and payments received.
• Compile and submit regular reports on overdue accounts and repayment progress.

Required profile

• Matriculation certificate (Matric) required.
• 3‑4 years of experience in a customer‑service environment.
• 3‑4 years of experience in collections.
• Working understanding of basic bookkeeping principles and payment terms.
• Prior experience in SME/B2B finance, lending or fintech is advantageous.
• Familiarity with CRM/collections systems such as Salesforce is a plus.
