Social Media Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Social Media Specialist to manage and grow client‑facing social channels in Cape Town. You will create on‑brand content, engage communities, and support integrated campaigns across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain content calendars, schedule posts, and publish across client accounts.
• Write engaging copy for posts, captions, stories and short‑form content on major social platforms.
• Brief and coordinate with creative and production teams to deliver social‑first assets.
• Monitor, moderate and respond to comments, messages and mentions, fostering genuine audience interaction.
• Track community sentiment, generate insights and produce performance reports.
• Contribute to social strategy, measurement plans and campaign proposals; present findings to clients.
• Identify trending moments and tactical opportunities to amplify brand visibility.
• Collaborate with influencers, content creators and paid‑media teams to deliver integrated campaigns.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in advertising, marketing, communications or equivalent.
• Proven agency‑side experience in social media and community management.
• Exposure to influencer or content creator management is a plus.
• Experience with retail or FMCG brands is advantageous.
• Strong copywriting ability, trend‑savvy mindset and analytical orientation.
• Highly organised, deadline‑driven and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.

Required skills

• Social media management platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite or Falcon.
• Social listening tools like Brandwatch or Meltwater.
• Influencer platforms such as Modash or Stellar.
• Understanding of UTM tagging and basic paid‑social principles.
• Google Analytics or equivalent analytics experience.
