Site Foreman – Boston Farm (KwaZulu-Natal)

About the role

National Chicks is seeking an experienced Site Foreman to lead operations at the Boston Farm in KwaZulu‑Natal. You will be responsible for ensuring production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of bio‑security, hygiene and animal welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise, lead and control daily farm activities to achieve production standards.
• Conduct regular site visits and act as the stand‑in for the Senior Site Foreman and Farm Manager when required.
• Manage labour issues, ensuring staff contribute effectively to company objectives.
• Maintain product quality, hygiene and bio‑security protocols.
• Optimise resource utilisation and drive continuous improvement using the 20 Keys principles.
• Oversee health, safety, risk management and compliance with relevant legislation and Astral SOPs.
• Monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions to meet operational targets.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education; tertiary agriculture qualification is an advantage.
• At least 3 years of breeder experience in a poultry or livestock environment.
• Self‑motivated, performance‑driven and able to work independently.
• Flexible working hours, including weekends and irregular shifts.
• Valid driving licence and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using Outlook for communication and scheduling.
