Site Agent – Building Construction (Sandton)

About the role

An established building construction company based in Sandton is looking for an experienced Site Agent to lead day‑to‑day site operations for its Gauteng projects. The role involves managing construction activities, supervising personnel and subcontractors, and ensuring safety, quality, schedule and budget compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for day‑to‑day site management, planning, coordinating and supervising construction activities.
• Lead and manage subcontractors and suppliers, monitor daily progress and productivity, and resolve operational and technical issues.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, architects, engineers and the procurement team to ensure alignment with project schedules and material delivery.
• Work with the Project Planner to monitor the construction programme, track critical‑path activities and implement recovery plans.
• Ensure all work meets project specifications, conduct quality inspections, manage snag lists and oversee testing and commissioning.
• Maintain full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations, promote a strong safety culture and lead safety meetings.
• Assist the Quantity Surveyor with measurement of completed work and monitor labour, plant and material costs.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Site Agent or Site Manager in building construction.
• Strong knowledge of South African construction legislation, health and safety regulations and industry standards.
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors, suppliers and on‑site resources.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills with a focus on delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.
