Senior Tax Advisor

About the role

The Senior Tax Advisor will lead the delivery of international tax advice across Absa Group Limited and its subsidiaries. This role focuses on managing tax risk, identifying tax opportunities, and supporting major projects and initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with project leads, corporate development, finance, legal, compliance and other key stakeholders.
• Provide timely tax advice both reactively for business initiatives and proactively to capture tax efficiencies.
• Manage tax risk by documenting controls, quantifying impacts, and communicating mitigation actions to management.
• Record analysis, conclusions and supporting work papers clearly, and ensure proper filing of tax returns and payments.
• Liaise with external auditors early to agree on financial statement positions related to tax.
• Deliver training to stakeholders on tax opportunities, risks and engagement processes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in international tax advisory.
• Strong ability to communicate tax risks and opportunities to non‑tax stakeholders.
• Proven track record of managing tax risk and supporting large‑scale projects.
• Capability to work collaboratively across finance, legal, compliance and business units.
