Senior Systems Administrator

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure. The position is fully remote on a 12‑month contract, allowing you to work with a broad range of technologies across Windows, Linux, virtualization, and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain servers, networks, storage, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Administer Windows and Linux servers, ensuring performance, security, and availability.
• Develop and execute backup and disaster recovery plans.
• Monitor system performance, network connectivity, and respond to alerts.
• Implement and enforce security policies, firewalls, antivirus, IDS/IPS, and conduct security audits.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory.
• Maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and changes.
• Create and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks.
• Lead and mentor junior IT staff, providing guidance and training.
• Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and other IT teams for project delivery.
• Oversee cloud service integrations and Citrix environments (XenApp, XenDesktop, NetScaler).

Required profile

• Proven experience in systems administration for Windows and Linux environments.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues.
• Leadership skills to guide junior staff and collaborate across teams.
