Senior Software Engineer – TypeScript & PostgreSQL

About the role

MDI Consulting is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in TypeScript and PostgreSQL to join a high‑impact project team. The role is hybrid, based in Cape Town, and starts with an initial six‑month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend and full‑stack solutions using TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Work on both greenfield initiatives and existing production systems.
• Implement authentication and access management integrated with Microsoft Entra ID.
• Own and enhance GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines and repository workflows.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional and international teams to shape technical strategy and standards.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level software engineering experience with end‑to‑end feature ownership.
• Strong communication skills and experience working in distributed, multi‑time‑zone teams.
• Experience in regulated industries such as financial services is a plus.
