Senior Sales Consultant - Trade Credit Insurance

About the role

Old Mutual, a financial services organisation, is looking for a Senior Sales Consultant in Johannesburg to drive sales of its Credit Guarantee products. The role is client-facing and focuses on building and expanding business relationships, from prospecting and needs analysis to proposal presentation, onboarding and record keeping, all within FAIS compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Set up initial meetings and make contact with potential clients, including follow-up on incoming leads.
• Analyse client needs for trade credit insurance by reviewing their business operations and financial statements to assess risk.
• Prepare quotes and present them clearly to prospects and introductory brokers, giving expert advice.
• Issue policies and provide online training to new clients after they accept a quote.
• Maintain accurate records of advice and complete other administrative tasks required for compliance.
• Stay current with statutory and legislative knowledge to handle complaints, advise on risk mitigation and improve the customer experience.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, share product and process knowledge, and contribute to new standards and procedures.

Required profile

• Post-matric qualification equivalent to NQF Level 7 in Commerce, with a major in Business Economics, Accounting, Finance, Credit Management or a related field; a Grade 12 with an Insurance Level IV qualification is also acceptable.
• At least five years of proven B2B sales experience, with a track record of engaging senior decision-makers such as CFOs and Financial Managers.
• FAIS accreditation and full understanding of regulatory fit-and-proper requirements.
• Solid understanding of business financial statements.
• Experience in insurance, financial services or a regulated industry is advantageous.

Required skills

• Data analysis, record keeping and report review.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, professional presentation and client management.
• Good computer literacy and experience with sales software.
• Valid Code 8 driver's licence held for over 12 months.
