About the role
Our client in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Officer to lead health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) initiatives across multiple construction sites and vessels. You will ensure compliance with statutory regulations and international standards while fostering a culture of safety.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and monitor business unit safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain legal and statutory SHEQ compliance.
- Conduct route inspections in line with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015.
- Visit vessels and various work sites to perform risk assessments.
- Compile project safety files, data packs and conduct incident investigations.
- Manage inductions, toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Coordinate customer satisfaction surveys and liaise with managers to achieve legislative compliance.
Required profile
- Minimum SAMTRAC qualification; NEBOSH is an advantage.
- 5‑8 years of supervisory experience in safety within construction or related sectors.
- Strong verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
- Valid, unendorsed driver’s licence.
