Senior Quality Engineer – Automotive & Manufacturing

About the role

Our client is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join their team in Pinetown. The ideal candidate brings 8‑10 years of experience in automotive and manufacturing environments and will lead engineering and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects, define strategy, provide technical direction and mentor engineers/technicians.
• Improve production processes to increase OEE, reduce downtime and cycle times.
• Manage CAPEX projects from budgeting and business case through procurement, installation, FAT/SAT and hand‑over.
• Specify, install and commission machinery, investigate failures and enhance equipment reliability.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, root‑cause analysis and CAPA initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, audits and customer quality investigations.
• Maintain OHS and machinery‑safety standards and promote safe working practices.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities in engineering, maintenance and energy and assess project ROI.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.
• BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven track record leading CAPEX projects from concept to implementation.
• Experience with production equipment, automation and mechanical design.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor engineering teams.
