Senior Professional Nurse - Medical

About the role

The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager in delivering safe, high‑quality patient care and a positive client experience. The role combines direct clinical duties with mentorship of new and student nurses, ensuring risk mitigation and coordinated care delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting clinical quality standards.
• Manage the overall client experience within the unit.
• Optimize staffing resources through effective supply, retention, and utilisation.
• Develop staff competence via continuous assessment, training and mentorship.
• Assist in managing operational expenses, including stock and capital.
• Support the Unit Manager in day‑to‑day operational decisions.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification; postgraduate diploma in nursing for specialist units.
• Minimum 3 years of hospital nursing experience and at least 1 year of mentorship experience.

Required skills

• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
