Senior Mobile Engineer (Remote, Cape Town preferred)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to lead the design, development, testing and delivery of high‑performance mobile applications for our biometric identity platform used by tier‑1 financial institutions. The role is remote‑first with a preference for candidates based in Cape Town.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build advanced iOS applications (essential) and Android or cross‑platform solutions (advantageous) with a focus on responsiveness and security.
• Own mobile features from concept through architecture, implementation, testing and release.
• Collaborate with product managers, backend engineers and QA teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Identify and implement performance improvements and address technical debt.
• Stay up‑to‑date with mobile trends and propose relevant technologies.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience delivering iOS applications in security‑sensitive, compliance‑heavy domains.
• Strong craftsmanship: clean, maintainable code, rigorous testing and attention to detail.
• Ability to make sound architectural decisions and mentor peers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.

• Swift and Objective‑C (iOS development)
• Java and Kotlin (Android, advantageous)
• React Native or Flutter (cross‑platform, advantageous)
• SOLID principles, modern mobile architecture, microservices and event‑driven patterns
• TDD/BDD testing practices
