Senior Middleware Developer (12-month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Middleware Developer to design, build and maintain robust integration solutions for a leading banking environment in Sandton. You will work with Java Spring Boot and a suite of IBM middleware products to ensure enterprise systems stay connected, secure and performant.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and support middleware solutions using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain RESTful and SOAP‑based APIs.
• Configure, administer and optimise IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and WebSphere Liberty Profile (WLP).
• Develop secure integrations with IBM DataPower, API Connect and Business Automation Workflow (BAW).
• Ensure high availability, scalability and performance of middleware applications on Linux/Unix platforms.
• Manage and optimise SQL Server databases supporting middleware services.
• Containerise applications with Docker and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Produce technical documentation in Jira and Confluence and troubleshoot production issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in middleware development and administration.
• Strong, current Java Spring Boot development expertise.
• Ability to work independently and within Agile, collaborative teams.
• Excellent communication of technical concepts.
