Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead product development for medium‑ and heavy‑duty commercial vehicles. You will work on designs from first principles through to complete systems, supporting a range of specialised vehicle markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new products and improve existing product ranges.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed designs and client presentations.
• Prepare manufacturing and supplier part drawings.
• Conduct concept and design reviews.
• Manage day‑to‑day design activities and mentor junior engineers.
• Provide cost‑saving, service, and product improvement solutions.
• Collaborate with materials, purchasing, analysis, test, manufacturing, and compliance teams.

Required profile

• B Eng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proven ability to plan and execute project plans.
• Experience guiding and mentoring engineering teams.
• Self‑driven, innovative and able to adapt to changing priorities.
• South African citizenship.

Required skills

• 3D CAD modeling.
