Senior Manager, Sales – Government Solutions (South Africa & Southern Africa)

About the role

Visa is looking for a high‑performing Senior Manager to lead Government Solutions sales across South Africa and the broader Southern Africa region. This client‑facing position will drive business development, expand market presence, and position Visa as a trusted partner for public‑sector payments.

Key responsibilities

• Execute Visa’s Government Solutions sales strategy in South Africa and selected Southern Africa markets, identifying priority clients and growth opportunities.
• Build and manage a robust pipeline of public‑sector opportunities, creating account plans, sales strategies, business cases and value propositions.
• Establish and nurture relationships with national, provincial and local government agencies, ministries, regulators and public institutions.
• Navigate procurement processes, leading bids through award stages and securing high‑value contracts.
• Originate initiatives that help governments adopt digital payments, wallets and payments data to improve service delivery and decision‑making.
• Collaborate with internal teams—including Government Affairs, Product, Solutions, Marketing, Communications and Client Services—to deliver tailored solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience selling to public‑sector clients, with strong consultative sales and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Deep understanding of government operations, procurement procedures and public‑sector financing.
• Ability to influence and lead in a matrix environment, managing strategic initiatives and priority accounts.
• Track record of delivering commercial value while generating measurable public impact.
