About the role
The Senior Manager: Group Communications will be instrumental in developing and executing tactical communication strategies that align with the group’s overarching strategic objectives. This role demands a blend of strategic thinking and hands‑on delivery, ensuring integrated colleague communication methodologies are formulated, implemented and adopted across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Craft and implement a comprehensive integrated communication strategy, translating enterprise‑wide priorities and leadership directives into actionable plans with precise audience segmentation, channel selection, key messaging, timing and risk mitigation.
- Contribute to an integrated editorial and channel calendar to support enterprise‑wide priorities, leadership visibility, change programmes, cultural initiatives and colleague engagement.
- Facilitate internal communication platforms that encourage regular engagement between colleagues and leadership, including planning, writing, editing and publishing content across channels such as leadership messages, town halls, intranet, email, digital signage, collaboration platforms, video, events and manager toolkits.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business units, positioning the Communications function as reputation‑management experts and providing strategic advice on positioning and messaging.
- Coordinate and deliver monthly measurement and insight reports for Group Internal Communications and actively participate in forums such as Newsroom and Creative Forum meetings.
Required profile
- Qualification in Marketing and/or Communications at NQF level 7.
- 5‑12 years of experience in a senior management communications role, with at least three years of people‑management experience.
- Proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies, identify compelling stories and translate them into initiatives.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and high computer literacy.
- Working knowledge of new media and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Large Language Models (LLMs) and understanding of cross‑geography communication strategies.
