Senior Manager – Electrical Operations

About the role

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead its Electrical Operations division. This senior position oversees maintenance, construction projects and emergency response for the municipality’s electrical network.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and prioritize budgets for maintenance activities.
• Review and update branch procedures to ensure relevance and compliance.
• Approve and monitor project plans for maintenance and construction works.
• Direct operational activities during emergencies and critical incidents.
• Monitor network loading through local measurements and analysis.
• Investigate and resolve metering disputes.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or BTech degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) in Electrical Engineering or eligibility to register as a Professional Electrical Engineer.
• Government Certificate of Competency.
• Minimum ten years of relevant experience, including at least five years in a managerial capacity within a local authority.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
• ECSA registration or eligibility for registration.
• Ability to manage large‑scale maintenance and construction projects.
