Senior Manager – Actuarial Quantification & Claims Risk

About the role

The Senior Manager will lead the actuarial quantification function and oversee claims risk for the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Claims Risk, the role ensures high‑quality actuarial support, accurate loss‑of‑income calculations and robust risk management across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Build, develop and validate actuarial models for loss of earnings and loss of support benefits.
• Research and implement state‑of‑the‑art calculation methodologies and update model assumptions.
• Provide actuarial advice to internal and external stakeholders, including interpretation of medical and expert reports.
• Develop forecasting models for accident frequency, claim volumes and financial projections.
• Support the claims administration team with risk‑management reporting, forecasting and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Oversee actuarial investigations, data analysis and reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
• Guide departmental strategy, policy development, financial management and budget control.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, people management and risk‑management activities across the Operations division.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Actuarial Science or Mathematics.
• Post‑graduate qualification in a related field.
• Qualified Associate or Fellow of an internationally recognised actuarial body (e.g., ASSA, IFoA, SoA, CAS).
• 9–10 years actuarial experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Minimum 3 years experience in loss‑of‑income damages quantification and model development.
• Proven track record of signing off actuarial reports for damages and compensation.
