Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join our team and provide 3rd‑line support for a large UK‑based client. You will manage, maintain and troubleshoot Linux‑based platforms, ensuring stability, performance and security.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert 3rd‑line technical support and advanced troubleshooting for complex Linux incidents.
• Collaborate with service integrators, third‑party vendors and specialists to maintain service availability and security.
• Lead planning, documentation and execution of change and release activities, including patch and upgrade management.
• Maintain accurate configuration data and enhance it as required.
• Act as an escalation point for complex issues, driving resolution and communicating with stakeholders.
• Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks proactively.
• Develop and maintain high‑quality technical documentation.
• Champion ITIL‑based policies within the service management framework.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a 3rd‑line Linux Engineer with advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Proven ability to resolve high‑priority incidents within SLA and deliver clear technical communication.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, LPIC or Azure AZ‑900 are a plus.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of Linux server environments, particularly Ubuntu and Red Hat.
• Scripting and automation using PowerShell and Bash.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.
• Familiarity with configuration management and monitoring tools such as N‑able.
• Understanding of IT network principles and network troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
