Senior Legal Counsel - Construction / Engineering - IMEA Region

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join the in‑house legal team of a global design and engineering firm operating across India, the Middle East and Africa. The role is hybrid, with three days a week in one of our South African offices (Cape Town, Durban or Johannesburg), and focuses on providing strategic, commercial and operational legal support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex contract negotiations and draft commercial agreements for construction and engineering projects.
• Manage legal risk, oversee dispute resolution and coordinate with external counsel.
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, governance standards and internal policies.
• Develop and deliver training on legal matters to business units.
• Support the business with advice on regulatory, compliance and governance issues across the IMEA region.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with several years of experience in construction, commercial contracts, disputes and compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, global legal environment.
• Experience in professional services, infrastructure or real‑estate sectors is advantageous.
