Senior Legal Advisor / Senior Attorney

About the role

We are a growing renewable energy and infrastructure company seeking a senior, hands‑on legal professional to provide high‑level corporate and commercial support. Based in Bellville, the Senior Legal Advisor will work closely with executive management to deliver commercially sound advice that drives the organisation’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and finalise complex corporate and commercial agreements, including services, supply, procurement, licensing, technology and agency contracts.
• Support acquisitions, investments, restructures, due diligence, new ventures and strategic partnerships.
• Advise on contractual rights, commercial risk, governance, warranties, indemnities and termination clauses.
• Manage legal matters from instruction through negotiation, approval, signature and implementation.
• Participate in tender, RFP and procurement processes; review construction and infrastructure agreements such as EPC, O&M and subcontractor contracts.
• Identify legal and commercial risks, develop mitigation strategies and oversee disputes and external counsel.
• Maintain high standards of drafting, contract administration, document control and legal reporting.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
• Admitted Attorney in South Africa.
• Minimum 10 years post‑articles experience in corporate and commercial law.
• Experience in a reputable law firm and/or in‑house environment.
• Strong commercial mindset and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Expert legal drafting and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with FIDIC and/or JBCC contract frameworks (advantageous).
• Ability to manage complex transactions and multi‑disciplinary projects.
