Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

The Senior Internal Auditor will lead the organisation’s internal audit function, providing independent assurance on governance, risk management, internal controls and operational efficiency across the Group.

Key responsibilities

• Own the internal audit strategy, charter, methodology and risk‑based annual audit plan for approval by the Audit and Risk Committee.
• Plan and lead complex financial, operational, compliance, IT and governance audits, testing controls and identifying gaps.
• Produce clear, evidence‑based audit reports with practical recommendations and track corrective actions to resolution.
• Escalate significant or unresolved issues to senior executives and governance bodies.
• Lead, coach and manage the internal audit team, allocating work and ensuring high‑quality output.
• Manage the department’s budget, resourcing and technology requirements.
• Oversee outsourced audit providers and coordinate with external auditors to avoid duplication of effort.

Required profile

• Relevant bachelor’s degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Risk Management or a related field.
• Postgraduate qualification or Certified Internal Auditor designation is advantageous.
• 8–10 years of experience in internal auditing, governance, risk or assurance, preferably in a large, multi‑site organisation.
• Proven experience reporting to executive management and Audit and Risk Committees.
• Strong grounding in risk‑based auditing, internal controls, governance and professional standards.
