Senior Interior Designer

About the role

AHIT Recruitment is looking for an accomplished Senior Interior Designer to join a prestigious, internationally recognised interior architecture studio in Cape Town. This senior, hands‑on position offers the chance to lead luxury residential, hospitality and commercial projects from concept through to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creative and conceptual stages of projects alongside Directors and Associates.
• Manage multiple interior architecture and FF&E projects, ensuring design intent and quality.
• Develop and confidently present design concepts to clients.
• Design bespoke furniture, lighting, joinery and architectural elements.
• Produce space‑planning drawings, specifications and design‑intent packages.
• Coordinate documentation, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Develop project timelines, monitor milestones and control costs.
• Identify risks, troubleshoot challenges and provide practical solutions.
• Oversee projects through snagging and final close‑out.
• Mentor middleweight and junior designers and contribute to studio standards.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
• 7+ years post‑graduate experience, including at least 4 years in luxury residential design.
• Strong interior architecture background with excellent technical ability.
• Proven experience delivering projects from concept to completion.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills in English.
• Leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior designers.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Vectorworks.
• Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office Suite.
