Senior Imports Controller

About the role

Know the Tariff Book better than anyone in the building? Here, every import file is yours. A well‑established logistics and supply chain business needs a Senior Imports Controller to manage a portfolio of import accounts from document check to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform document checks and ensure correct HS tariff classification on every shipment.
• Submit SARS entries, manage cargo dues and obtain authority releases within deadlines.
• Coordinate cargo release, haulage and ex‑works shipments.
• Conduct rate checks, handle invoicing and prepare customer status reports.

Required profile

• Matric qualification; a Clearing, Freight Forwarding or Logistics diploma is advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in import freight forwarding.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans with availability for after‑hours support.
• Proactive in identifying incorrect HS codes before they incur costs.
• Responsive in updating customers without prompting.

Required skills

• Level 1 and Level 2 Customs training.
• Knowledge of the Customs and Excise Act and the Tariff Book.
• Advanced Excel and Google Workspace proficiency.
