Senior Fleet Controller

About the role

Our client, a well‑established transport and logistics company in Gauteng, is looking for a Senior Fleet Controller to lead its fleet management team. The role is based in Akasia, Pretoria and focuses on ensuring reliable, on‑time deliveries across major national routes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of Fleet Controllers ranging from junior to intermediate level.
• Capture and update planned loads in fleet management systems, including Soloplan.
• Allocate loads to the appropriate trucks and communicate loading instructions to drivers.
• Continuously monitor truck and driver movements to guarantee timely collection and delivery.
• Ensure proof‑of‑delivery documents are scanned accurately and hard copies are collected.
• Monitor diesel consumption and driver efficiency, reporting any issues to the Training Centre.
• Conduct driver debriefings, manage attendance registers and coordinate leave.
• Maintain regular communication with clients on progress, changes and issue resolution.
• Inform the Call Centre of breakdowns and follow up on repair times.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a team of fleet controllers or similar logistics personnel.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple loads and schedules.
• Excellent communication with drivers, clients and internal stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Soloplan fleet management system.
