Senior Financial Manager

About the role

The Senior Financial Manager will lead the finance function of Productivity SA, reporting directly to the Executive Manager of Corporate Services and the Chief Financial Officer. The role is responsible for shaping financial strategy, overseeing accounting and statutory reporting, and ensuring robust financial controls across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement finance strategies by analysing economic trends, revenue opportunities and operational performance.
• Design and maintain financial accounting and reporting systems, including forecasting resource requirements and aligning functional objectives with organisational goals.
• Monitor financial performance, produce variance analyses, and initiate corrective actions to improve results.
• Assess prospective contracts and advise on programme design, ensuring compliance with Treasury and government regulations.
• Establish and oversee internal controls, guaranteeing that documentation meets audit standards.
• Support the preparation of the operating budget and provide cost‑analysis support for programme success.
• Ensure compliance with the Supply Chain Management Policy and act as Chairperson of the Bid‑Evaluation and Specification Committee.
• Interpret legislative and programme rules, disseminate requirements to relevant personnel and monitor ongoing compliance.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Extensive experience in financial management, statutory reporting and audit risk management.
• Proven ability to develop financial strategies and lead budgeting processes.
• Strong knowledge of South African Treasury Regulations and public‑sector procurement standards.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a commitment to ethical and transparent financial practices.
