Senior Financial Manager – CFO Succession (Durbanville, Cape Town)

About the role

An established company in the fast‑paced agricultural export sector is looking for a commercially‑minded Senior Financial Manager to join its leadership team. This position is designed as a CFO succession role, starting with day‑to‑day financial operations and evolving into full CFO responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of daily financial functions, including cash‑flow management across multiple banking platforms.
• Prepare and present monthly management accounts and financial information for board meetings.
• Oversee debtors, creditors, reconciliations, provisions, VAT and payroll processes.
• Review customer credit limits, payment arrangements and financial exposure.
• Manage annual budgets, forecasts and performance reporting.
• Coordinate year‑end audit and ensure timely delivery of audited financial statements.
• Analyse service‑provider and shipping invoices, investigate pricing and margin variances.
• Report weekly turnover, gross profit and margin figures and work closely with commercial, logistics and operations teams.

Required profile

• Qualified CA(SA) with 4+ years post‑articles financial management experience.
• Experience in agriculture, exports, logistics, shipping, FMCG or related international trade environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Afrikaans.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• Proven track record in cash‑flow management, management accounts, audit and financial controls.
• Experience supervising a finance or administration team.
• Strong commercial understanding and ability to evaluate financial and operational risk.
