Senior Electro-Optical Characterization Scientist

About the role

Simera Sense seeks a senior scientist to lead electro‑optical characterization of imaging systems for small‑satellite missions. You will develop measurement methodologies, generate high‑quality performance data, and ensure payloads meet stringent accuracy and reliability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute end‑to‑end characterization campaigns for production imagers, measuring radiometric, spectral, geometric and image‑quality parameters.
• Analyze data to identify performance deviations, determine root causes, and produce certification reports.
• Provide technical support to production during assembly, integration and test, and recommend process improvements.
• Maintain and calibrate characterization instrumentation, ensuring scientific accuracy and measurement uncertainty analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor's Honors or postgraduate diploma in Physics, Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in astronomical/imaging sensor calibration, preferably on space missions.
• Proven track record managing ground‑based and in‑flight characterization plans.
• Experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers.
