Senior Construction Contracts Manager

About the role

Citra is seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Contracts Manager to lead contractual matters on its large-scale residential projects in the Western Cape. The role will oversee the CentralBlue development in Blue Downs and future projects in Somerset West, ensuring contracts are managed from procurement through to close-out.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement and contract strategies in partnership with the Head of Construction and QS team.
• Lead tendering, drafting, reviewing and negotiating JBCC standard-form contracts for subcontractors and suppliers.
• Administer contracts throughout the project lifecycle, handling correspondence, instructions, claims, variations, EOT requests and dispute resolution.
• Identify, assess and mitigate contractual and commercial risks, ensuring compliance with legislation and health & safety regulations.
• Work with Quantity Surveyors to control project costs, verify payment applications and issue payment certificates.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual matters, liaising with contractors, consultants and internal teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or Law.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Contracts Manager on large-scale residential or property development projects.
• Professional registration such as PrQS, PrCM or PrEng is highly advantageous.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of South African JBCC contracts.
• Familiarity with FIDIC and NEC contract suites.
• Strong understanding of construction law, risk management and dispute resolution processes.
