Senior Category Manager - DOSCM

About the role

The Senior Category Manager will lead and execute the product and category management strategy for South Africa across all product groups. This role aligns local execution with global brand direction, commercial priorities and market dynamics to drive growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement seasonal and annual buying plans that reflect the company’s international brand strategy and local business objectives.
• Lead product selection and localisation of assortments for the South African market in collaboration with global counterparts.
• Analyse historical data, market trends and sales forecasts to create accurate demand plans and ensure optimal stock levels.
• Manage relationships with global supply‑chain teams and approved vendors, ensuring sourcing meets quality, ethics and sustainability standards.
• Monitor stock levels, propose markdowns or promotional actions, and optimise inventory across distribution centres and channels.
• Partner with marketing, e‑commerce and retail teams to support product launches and campaigns, flagging any delays.
• Set local retail and wholesale pricing strategies, analyse SKU profitability and recommend pricing adjustments.
• Provide regular reporting and analysis on category performance, stock losses and returns.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in category or product management.
• Proven ability to develop and execute buying plans and product strategies.
• Strong analytical mindset for demand forecasting and profitability analysis.
• Experience working with global supply‑chain and vendor partners.
