Senior Bookkeeper - East Rand

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our client’s team. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, managing day‑to‑day bookkeeping functions and ensuring compliance with accounting and tax requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date financial records in accordance with accounting standards.
• Record and reconcile day‑to‑day financial transactions, including inter‑company loan accounts, sales, purchases and bank statements.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare financial reports and provide accurate information to accountants and management.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure compliance with tax and accounting requirements.
• Assist with internal and external audits and support month‑end and year‑end financial processes.
• Handle bookkeeping functions relating to property rentals.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric with a Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Financial Management or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ bookkeeping experience, including working with debtors and creditors.
• Practical experience with VAT and basic tax compliance.
• Experience with property rentals is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial record‑keeping.
• Strong data entry and numerical accuracy skills.
