Senior Boarding House Parent

About the role

Wembley College, an English-medium independent school founded in 1997 and situated in Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal, has opened a permanent vacancy for a Senior Boarding House Parent at its boarding establishment. The role covers 24/7 supervision of boarders, administration, staff coordination, catering liaison, safety and security, and weekend activity planning.

Key responsibilities

• 24/7 stand-by and consistent communication with parents about their child's academic and social progress
• Administer boarding records, policy updates, letters, maintenance quotes, incident reports, staff meeting minutes and study timetables
• Manage boarders' whereabouts, daily routine, learning and well-being, and the prefects and monitors, including discipline and the boarding code of conduct
• Inspect the establishment regularly for banned substances, manage medication storage and diet, and liaise with transport and doctors
• Create staff duty rosters, run weekly staff meetings and implement effective systems
• Hold weekly meetings with caterers, order supplies within budget and keep resource inventory up to date
• Check building maintenance, manage the alarm system and liaise with security
• Plan and manage activities for closed weekends within the budget

Required profile

• Matric
• Certification in child-related courses
• Clear criminal record
• Good with children of all ages
• 1-2 years of previous boarding establishment experience preferred
• Driver's licence
