Senior Billing Analyst

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Billing Analyst to own the Group’s billing processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely delivery within strict monthly deadlines. The role involves handling large data volumes, investigating discrepancies, performing complex reconciliations and providing insights to prevent revenue leakage.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the Group’s billing function, perform detailed reconciliations between supplier, customer and internal records, and investigate billing variances to identify root causes.
• Manage monthly billing cycles, enforce cut‑off deadlines, process commissions and debit orders, and follow up on outstanding information to avoid delays.
• Analyse large billing datasets, prepare reconciliation and exception reports, and deliver actionable insights for operational and strategic decision‑making.
• Monitor billing controls, resolve complex queries and escalations, and recommend improvements to processes, controls and procedures.
• Provide guidance and supervision to the billing team, review output, coach members and ensure adherence to deadlines and standards.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 qualification (essential) and a relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Data Analytics.
• At least 5 years of experience in a high‑volume billing or finance environment.
• Proven experience providing senior‑level guidance, oversight or supervision within a billing team.
• Strong expertise in billing reconciliations, large‑scale data analysis and root‑cause investigation.
• Excellent supplier and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis, large‑scale reconciliations).
• Power Query (advantageous).
• Familiarity with billing or finance systems such as BPO, Sage, Porta, Splynx, Call Cabinet, ATOM, SimControl, Laserfiche, Cloud on Demand, FileZilla or Albatross (advantageous).
