Senior AWS Engineer / Developer

About the role

Our client, a leading IT consultancy, is looking for a Senior AWS Engineer / Developer to design, build, and support secure, scalable cloud‑native applications on Amazon Web Services. The role is hands‑on and focuses on delivering high‑performance solutions for a banking or financial services environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy cloud‑native applications and micro‑services on AWS.
• Build scalable, resilient, cost‑optimized architectures using EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, S3, RDS/Aurora, SQS/SNS.
• Create serverless solutions with AWS Lambda and related services.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Collaborate with architects, security, and DevOps teams to ensure compliance and governance.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues, and optimise resources.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to cloud strategy documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on AWS.
• Strong programming background in Python, Java, Go or Node.js.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise‑grade solutions in a regulated industry.

Required skills

• AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, VPC, S3, RDS/Aurora, SQS/SNS).
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, AWS CloudFormation.
• Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS preferred).
• CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline.
• Programming languages: Python, Java, Go, Node.js.
